Stick to My Ribs My Darlin'

Okay. My first excuse is that we did our exercise routine really late last night, it was REALLY intense, and I went to bed hungry. When I got up this morning I felt horrid: light-headed, nauseous, and sore. I still waited to eat for another hour and a half because I had to shower, get ready, and THEN cook two breakfasts (one for Ty and I, one for the rest of the gang). I shouldn't have waited that long, cause the rest of the morning I felt like a ravening wolf. Second excuse? Ribs are protein, so I didn't REALLY break the rules. Third: I only ate two, and saved half the meat for another meal (not for me, for someone not dieting of course). Those of you who love BBQ ribs may think that, "Well, she just succumbed to leftovers from Texas Roadhouse, and who can blame her?," but really I hate ribs, so now I'm wondering what's next? Do I really have so little will power that I would debase myself by devouring things in my fridge that would never tempt me before? Today it's ribs. Tomorrow may find me licking the pools of dried-on drippings from my center refrigerator shelf (remind me to clean out my fridge later). It's not too big a deal, I guess, since the diet plan tells me to "listen" to my body and eat more if I don't feel that I am getting enough. It only worries me because what if my body is screaming, "I NEED A BOX OF WHOPPERS," or, "HEY, IDIOT, WHAT'S WITH THE SOY NUTS"? What about the fact that we are having a neighborhood BBQ tonight (where I know all thoughts of health will be blown out the window the moment I set foot in the park), followed by a scrapbooking "crop" that will extend into the wee hours (where my sister-in-law is sure to be found: hot gooey brownies in hand), leaving me no time to exercise today? The plan book gives no instructions for these situations. I feel like I'm falling off the wagon before I even had a chance to find a comfy spot to sit (although wagons can't be too comfy, no matter where you sit, can they?). Aw well. I guess there's always Day 4 to look forward to...?
p.s. That was my sister-in-law on the phone. She wanted my Mint Fudge Brownie recipe. Crap.

Andrea, why in tarnation are you on a diet? That is the silliest thing I've ever heard. Exercise all you want girl, but you've always needed a little more meat on your bones! Even if it is ribs. :)

No, no, Emily, you have it all wrong. This is not a weight loss diet, in fact I'm hoping to pack on a few pounds (of muscle - not my usual route of turning to mush and losing weight). It is more of a ridding my body of bad habits and gaining new, healthier habits kind of diet. But thank you for the concern. :)

You are crazy. Believe me I am all about eating healthy all all that jazz, but only because I have to or I would be the size of a cow. If I was your size I would eat fried Twinkies all day (I say that because I just learned in Vegas that there was such a thing and I was so amazed!). So although I am supportive of your changed lifestyle, eat a few ribs every now and then. Although I hate ribs. So maybe eat a fried Twinkie every now and then!

Ahhh, I see. Very intriguing. So, are you following a specific program or just doing the stuff that we all know we should do like exercise & eat less junk?

Hang in there! Jordan and I just "finished" the Body for Life program- I hated every minute of the 12 weeks. Good health wasn't enough motivation for us- we went on a cruise. I made up for all 12 weeks of lost food in one week! Now I'm ready to eat well again. Good for you for doing it together- impossible all alone. Don't give up!

The program is P90X - ever heard of it? My brother-in-law ordered it (and spent a lot of money on it), and just broke his leg, so we thought we'd try it out while he's recuperating. :) I've always wanted to try it. It claims to get you "ripped in 90 days," so we'll see how many six packs I can accumulate in the next few weeks. The first 30 days are aimed at ridding the body of fat, which I'm not too concerned with (although you would be surprised at the amount of cellulite I am capable of hiding), but I want to follow it as close as possible to gain maximum results, ya know? If I'm going to do it, I might as well do it right. I would rather be heavier with muscle than light and flabby. AND (this is the reason I considered buying it myself last winter) I want to wake board this summer (I know, it's probably too late to make a difference this year, but snow boarding will be just around the corner when we finish the 90 days)without three weeks of recovery time in between trips. I don't think ya'll understand how much muscle tone I lack. I look forward to feeling stronger and having more energy - those are my motivators. Have I explained enough?

HAHA!! You always make me laugh! I read all the comments...and at first have to agree with Emily..that you don't need to be on a diet, but if it's just to gain muscle and too feel better, then that's awesome! Wish I had the will-power! OH...and how did the scrapbooking crop go?? Did you get a lot of pages done? I would like to see them! Do you know if Shantaila had her baby yet?
