Auld Lang Syne

I don't recognize the new year.

I count down from my birthday, so January 1st is just a halfway(ish) mark for me.

It IS a good opportunity to evaluate how my new year (birthday year, that is) goals are going, though.

Am I halfway perfect yet?

Have I read half of my reading list?

Have I been half as nice to my kids?

(that one gets confusing. you have to be a real math whiz to figure it out. it's best to just skip it.)

Because my goals are always the same:

Be nice, be smart, be perfect.

I think 2010-2011 is going to be my year.

But if it's not, I'll try again next July.

What are your New Year resolutions? I really want to know!

Work out at least once this year! I think that being nicer to my child is a good idea too. I'll adopt that one and since there is absolutely no way to verify my success, I'll feel good about it in 2012! Wohoo!!! Happy halfway mark!

You could actually be nice to half of your kids & rate yourself a smashing success at this mid-way point. I'm just sayin'.

Also, my resolution is to fit into skinny jeans (to wear w/ my rad new boots. You might be familiar w/ them as they are the exact same Rocket Dogs as yours. Just my subtle attempt to be you). The brilliance in that resolution is that I didn't say MY skinny jeans, just skinny jeans in general. Since they make skinny jeans in size 18+, I could actually choose to get fatter & still not fail. See my genius ways?

Well, I'd say anyone who puts a cute flower in their hair and wears awesome earings around the house is pretty near perfect in my book. Happy Half-birthday - ish ;)

Being perfect is exhausting.

I have a reading list a mile long for this year, but I always forget every book on it when I'm at the library or on Amazon. What are you reading?

Being perfect is a good goal - I think I'll try that this year.

Also: yell less, get to bed earlier, do laundry before it takes me two days straight to get caught up. Whew. I'm going to be busy this year. ;)

organize every corner of my house
get suddenly good at crafts
make every cute craft I see
be perfect in my calling
teach Cadence to read and Campbell to tell time and Layla to count
Be "fun mom"
Spend no money
Stress less

Hmmm...I don't think they are all in harmony. Oh well, there's always next year.

PS, I like that your birthday is your new year. Mine isn't but it does last 2-4 weeks. The week before adn the week after are mandatory observation weeks, and the other two in the radius of my birthday are optional, but greatly appreciated if observed.

My resolution?...I've been thinking about this for a couple weeks now and I haven't really come up with anything that I'm sure I want to commit to. I'd have to say, in general very non-specific terms: read more, be a better wife, lose about 30 pounds, and be more intentional with how I spend my time (as I sit blog-browsing).
Yup. There they are!
