Days Without Incident: 0

It's a rare occasion lately that drama sets up camp in my little life, so I just couldn't pass up the golden blog opportunity that presented itself today.

As you may know (if you facebook) (and if you don't, what are you waiting for?), I have been having some trouble working through some social security issues for our resident, Ruth, this week. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday almost exclusively on the phone. Which apparently doesn't mean much to social security. In fact I'm quite certain their sole purpose is to avoid contact with the public. Add to that a dash of tax preparation, two heaping Tablespoons of budgeting, and you've just baked up a piping hot recipe for Frazzled Frustration a la King. When served alone this hearty dish is hard enough to swallow, but chase it with a tall Unhelpful Security Officer Cocktail, and you're just asking for trouble.

And that is why 11:00 a.m. found me in the social security office. Screaming. And crying. And saying, "No, YOU listen to ME for a second!" to a man in uniform. Never mind he had a gun. Never mind he was two feet taller and three feet wider than I. Never mind I think he was *this* close to throwing me out (as it turns out, if you're going to yell, do it while crying - it takes the volume down to a high screech that does NOT justify brute force to remove you from buildings). Never mind it was all very surreal (which is why I have no idea what Ruth or my children were doing during all this). Never mind it was the most embarrassing moment of my life. Never mind that when he finally decided to let me in and asked me the perfunctory, "Do you have any weapons?" I laughed and said, "If I did, you'd already be dead." Cause I didn't. I only thought it. THAT'S why I laughed so hard (although I'm sure it only cemented in his mind the fact that I am a crazypsycholunaticwoman) Never mind all that. Because...

There are no longer any issues regarding Ruth's social security check.

Couldn't wait to read this (Even though I heard the story already.) So sorry, again, for the bad morning. Hope you got your energy back and got over the trauma. We'll nurse you back to a clear mind tomorrow (weather permitting).

Wow. I would've loved to see that. ;) But I'm sorry you had to go through all that. Sounds like you got the job done - sometimes turning on the tears gets results!

I could picture the entire episode. You yelling at a large man with a gun while your children and Ruth, very quietly, behave as they cower in the car with fear (that's where your children and Ruth were in my imagination).

I am off on a road trip with my Dad to see my baby sisters baby. Internet usage may be limited so, farewell untill Monday (hopefully sooner). Maybe now would be a good time to try Ambers "unplugged"

I love it. And I love your blog. I thought this post paired with "la ventana" were true poetry! Oh, and your "glimpse" post, too....oh, you are good. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has days where I wonder if "crazy people" actually think they are normal...and I actually think I'm normal but then I do something crazy....hmmmm...

If it is any solace, your really bad days provide endless laughs for me and all your other readers! And if you need an excuse you can always use "PMS" or "menopause" or "pregnant" or "ovulation"...your pick! Isn't it wonderful being a woman!

I haven't been on your blog for a while and I can see that I have truly been missing out...You are so amazingly talented! I can sooo relate to your "bad day" episode. It is the most frustrating thing ever to get sent on an "automated wild goose chase". I love ya!
