April is National Heel Spur Month

I was born for days like today. Days when the wind decides that rather than slap you in the face, it will just tiptoe gently across your cheeks. Days when the sun scoops out large helpings of warmth and pours them down the back of your shirt, inviting the universe to rediscover short sleeves and those cute wedge sandals that have been looking so lonely in the back of your closet these long, cold months.

Every year the same story: First day of sandal weather (a meteorological term, by the way) I eagerly strap on my most glamorous pair of heels and hit the pavement, forgetting that my toes and arches have grown accustomed to the warm, roomy confines of the likes of Rocket Dog tennies. In stereotypical spring fever fashion, I head to the nearest "big" city for a day of shopping. After all, my children need summer clothes now! There's no time to waste! It will probably only snow four or five more times, and without proper attire, we may all die of suffocation by turtle neck!

Which brings us to the here and now: I have charlie horses in both my calves, my back aches, and my feet are on fire (the parts that aren't completely numb, that is). BUT, I returned triumphant from my spree. All children are now mostly ready for upcoming romps in the sun, soirees with the water, and parties hosted by the gracious (and humble) park.

It was so worth it.

p.s.: Why is a charlie horse called a charlie horse anyway? It doesn't make any sense.
p.s. #2: I got my hair cut yesterday. At a salon. First time. Ever. I'm serious.
p.s. #3: I am accepting offers to employ my husband in a second job now that I have discovered the exquisite loveliness that is the salon experience.
p.s. #4: I might start stalking the salon. It's that bad.

I'm super serious.

Andy! The hair! SOooo cute. I want to see a shot of the front too. It looks so thick and shiny and luscious.
Way to go be-boppin' into a salon for the first time. I wish I could've come shopping with you--that's where my heart was today (shopping), but my checkbook just wasn't into it.
Sorry about your feet. That's why I only where ugly shoes--cuz I learned my lesson long ago, and it just isn't worth ruining my feet and back over cute sandals.

WOW! Love the hair!! If my hair looked like that I, too, would be stalking the salons! Shopping...ahh, I love that word, but won't get to experience that for...well, it feels like ages in here- in this small hospital room...I should call it my "cell". haha. You will have to do extra shopping and scrapbooking for me since I can't! Let's see a front shot too!

I love your hair!! You know I love short! I started going to a salon a year ago and I'll never go back now. And actually, the one I go to is not that much more than great clips, but she does a million times better! I go to the same girl every time so we're friends now:) And we just schedule my appointments in advance! It's so nice. Only problem, she is having twins in a couple months and she already has one little boy, so she will be out for a while. I just hope she comes back! I'm all for stay at home moms... obviously, but when it comes to her, I really need her to continue working. She is that awesome! Anyways. Very cute I love it. And there is definitely something about this nice weather that makes me NEED to shop:) I have been sneaking all kinds of deals lately. When it's $5.00 or less I figure nobody (meaning my husband) will notice:) And sometimes he doesn't. Or maybe he does, and he is just nice and knows that I need a little something now and then. But really I have been finding awesome $5.00 deals, so how can you pass it up! Anyways. I love spring!

Unfortunately the side/back is the cutest part of the cut. The front is more about my face than about the hair. And we all know what a disaster THAT is.

Posh? Posh Spice.. it that you? Just kidding, your hair is way cuter! and so is your face. Thank You for that photo as I will be printing it out and pinning to my bathroom mirror until my hair is long enough to then take it to a salon as a reference and copy you.. I might also add that I am a rocket dog girl. as for shopping? I love acquiring new things, especially clothes, but I find it too exhausting.. emotionally exhausting, that is. But I do love Boden. They are on line or through catalog, and their kids clothes are to die for.. I rarely find the justification to buy anything from them, but when i do, I love my kids a little more when they are wearing the clothes.. what can i say. (Their fall catalogue is the best) I love their women's clothes too, but I refuse to reward this uncooperative body with expensive clothing. Hopefully our bank account will jump on the wagon about the same time my body decides to be cute.

I just realized that I spelled catalog two different ways. hopefully one of them is correct. Now you know my shame. You and everyone who participated in the 6th grade spelling bee.

I have an addiction to getting my hair cut- but only by a great stylist, which is so expensive I only feed my habit once or twice a year. Your hair looks fabulous, good for you for breaking into the salon addiction!

So here is what I love most...when you are here this weekend, I can march you to the salon and say, "See my cute friend here and her cute haircut? I want a haircut just like this that will make me look that cute! No pressure though." I seriously love it. And I am so excited about this weekend. And there will be NO sickness allowed. Period. We have WAY too much fun to have; there will be no time to runny noses.

I can't think of any other way to put it than the same way others have: I Love Your Hair! I can't believe with curly hair this is the first time you have gone to a salon! And, by the way, you really should submit some of your writings to the New Yorker or even the local paper.

Yeah, that shot of your hair belongs in a "hair styles" magazine. But seriously, we need to see the face. And I had a day like that on Saturday. The weather was so perfect. Just a light breeze--enough to remind me that it's absolutely perfect. I didn't wear sandals but I wore wedges and walked around ALL DAY. My feet and back were killing. It was worth it. But no shopping. Well, CVS, but that doesn't count. It looks like we've all voted to see a front shot of your new 'do. Don't disappoint!

What an awesome post! You are such a great writer. Sorry to hear about the aches and pains you received as a result of your shpping spree. LOL. And your hair looks fab! Thanks for sharing:)

ps: I've always wondered about Charlie Horses. It must have been some injury inflicted by a horse on some guy named Charlie....just a guess:)

Ahhh! I LOVE IT! I'm getting my drastic new look tomorrow but I'm not going that short. Oh I love the salon too but I'm going to my friends house (so much cheaper). LOVE IT!!

Being a fan of the shorter hairstyles, I think it is really super cute! And, the shopping thing, it must be in the air...the only person spoiling it? Remington...why will that boy not wear the cute cargo shorts I buy him? He would rather wear SWEATS (and it has been high 90's the last two days) instead of non-gym shorts...you would think I hid scorpions in the new shorts. It is all fits and trauma when I suggest (rather strongly) that he should wear something beside sweatpants and gym shorts and free t-shirts from the dentist. Seriously, I am frustrated.

And, yes, I caught the sarcasm...my comment about decorating was supposed to be sarcastic (I never decorate, not even for my lesson at church--horrid, I know) but when I re-read it I realized it came across kinda ocd. Like I really thought about decorating, which i, of course, didn't.

Yes, I do think we have similar hair styles but yours looks WAY better than mine. I simply can not duplicate the glamorous look that my hair lady does. O well, at least I have good hair every 6 weeks. Now I am trying to decide if I want to color my hair. I LOVE my few grey hairs that I have but I HATE my mousey brown hair color. My hair can't decide if it is dark blonde, light brown, or some weird shade of dirt with red highlights. Maybe I can have her dye my hair with the exceptions of the few strands of grey hair.

Charlie horses in my calves would wake me in the middle of the night – so annoying and painful! My remedy? A banana a day will keep the Charlie horses away! I know when I haven’t eaten my bananas.

If your husband needs a job to support your new hair habit, I have a fence that needs to be built and wall in my house that needs to be torn down. . . .
