Fetch Me That Pitcher

It's got acreage (plural!). It's got a wrap around (ALL the way around, not your imitation half-way around) porch. There are at least a dozen mature trees that border the stream (okay, it's a canal, work with me people). It's got a tire swing. Did you just hear me say it has a tire swing? Cause it does! There is a tree-lined lane that leads one in a delightful drive up to and around the back of the house. It's on a road named Cottage (if you don't know me, you don't know that I have issues with street names, but you don't know me, so you don't care). I drive past it multiple (plural again!) times every day, and it's not on my way to anywhere. I am obsessed. It is perfect. I just know that every day would be Martha Stewart Living cover page-worthy if it were mine. Can't you just picture it (I can): children outside swinging and laughing...sometimes even singing. Me, in my vintage apron and red high heels, plucking a steamy apple pie from the oven. As I step out onto the porch (it wraps around...did I already mention that?) to remind the children of their chores (feed the chickens, cows and goat - for some reason all my versions of this particular imaginary life include the same goat), my handsome, muscular stable boy (who conveniently doubles as my husband) peeks out from the barn to whistle his respects my way. I blush and return to my domestic haven, but not before telling him to put his shirt back on before the neighbors see him! Sheesh! Those pectorals are for my eyes ONLY!

I mean, if nothing else, we've already determined that my children look really cute around hay:

and in front of barn doors:

And really, that's all the evidence I need! It is meant to be!

Now, if I could just figure out how to come up with an extra $300K...

Your kids look cute anywhere but particularly in front of hay and barn doors. Seriously, that last picture is so cute!
Is it the life we all dream of or is it just us hopeless Orton romantics? You make me laugh what with the visions of your husband and all. Too funny.

Ah. Sometimes I feel like Grandpa Orton is nudging us toward the simple country life. I'm getting impatient for it and wonder how in the world to make my dream come true!

Don’t worry; I am sure we can figure this out – how about a subprime or an adjustable rate mortgage? Since you will be living off the land (drinking goats milk and all) there should be no problem saving up for that balloon payment that will be due in five years.

Sounds like we share the same dream home. Oh, if only...

Is it for sale?

Maybe we could all save up and buy a large Orton commune. I have the same dream. Big white house with wrap around porch on acres with chickens, kittens, and a cow. Mature fruit trees with lots of places for kids to run and explore.

Same issue. $$. You know, there are tons of dream houses like these in MO that are affordable! I just can't stand being that far away from my family. But if everyone comes with me then I wouldn't be far away, right?

that house is awesome! Especially since it has land and trees! Why does it have to be so expensive? We want our kids to grow up the way we grew up... With tree houses, land to run and play on, and explore, and go 4-wheeling, and have sheep... I could probably do without the sheep. But we want that kind of life so bad. Guess we will see what the future holds and where it takes us. I really love that house though! Maybe someday...

haha! You always come up with such clever titles for your posts. That is a beautiful home! Something you would see on the cover of Home and Garden Magazine or something. I bet the inside is just beautiful too! So is it for sale then? I grew up with a huge yard and loved it... most of the time. In the fall I hated it, as we had several big oak trees, so you can imagine my frustration as 75+ bags of leaves later, we were still raking. Of course, kids need that I think...a little hard work.

One problem (okay maybe a few, but the most glaring for me anyway), I think if I moved there (and oh how I would love it!!) I would have to morph into the pioneer woman (ever read her blog-AWESOME!). And the last time I checked with reality, I have as much Pioneer Woman in me as Marilyn Manson has morals. See the problem!

I won't argue with ya - it's a beautiful dream! I didn't realize that it was everyone's, though. I had the same dream, too! It really must be an Ortim thing!

You are hilar. I think it must be an 'Orton thing'....just kidding. I love the house too! WAY cute. Just no goat and chickens for me. I would take a cow...maybe. Just for the free milk though! :) lol. I love porches like that as well. How did you even find the house in the first place? I need to post a picture of a super cute house that is about 1 mile from my house. It is ADORABLE and you would LOVE IT. It has character!
What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

Excuse me. Is this the complaint department. If so, I would like to file an official complaint. You see, it has been a week since a new blog has been posted and that just won't satisfy my necessary addiction requirements. So if you could talk to someone who could talk to someone who could get that fixed straight away, um, that would be stellar. Thanks.
